Northampton Town have signed Everton defender Mark Hughes for an undisclosed fee, and Gretna striker Kenny Deuchar on loan for the rest of the season. Deuchar, 26, has scored 66 goals in 82 starts for Gretna, helping them reach last season's Scottish FA Cup final.
Hughes, 20, made just three appearances for Everton's first team but had regularly captained their reserves.
"I am delighted with the two signings we have made today," Cobblers boss Stuart Gray told Town's website.
