Carroll came off the bench to score the equaliser in Saturday's draw at Stoke
Newcastle United striker Andy Carroll is keen to prove his worth to temporary manager Alan Shearer between now and the end of the Premier League season.
The 20-year-old, who scored the equaliser in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Stoke, says the arrival of Shearer is a personal boost.
"Shearer as manager is unbelievable, he was my hero," he told BBC Newcastle.
"I used to watch him when I was younger, I've got to impress him now and I've got to do what I can do."
