Keegan has guided Newcastle to two wins after nine games without a win
Newcastle manager Kevin Keegan is targeting a top 10 finish after his side's 4-1 victory away at Tottenham.
After nine games without a win since Keegan's return, Newcastle have now recorded two straight victories and are nine points above the relegation zone.
"We're starting to look up now," said the 57-year-old.
"There is a chance we can catch Spurs and one or two others who get stuck in that middle area where there is not a lot to play for other than pride."
Goals from Nicky Butt, Geremi, Michael Owen and Obafemi Martins cancelled out Darren Bent's opener for Spurs and the result leaves Newcastle in 12th place, four points behind Saturday's opponents and nine behind 10th-placed West Ham.
"We were playing for a lot more than Spurs and I think it showed," Keegan added.
"That's no disrespect to Spurs because they are a wonderful side who are going places, but we might be going those same places with them and it looks as though we can."
The Newcastle boss reserved special praise for Owen, after he scored his third goal in as many games.
The England striker was deployed in a deeper role at White Hart Lane, playing just off Martins and Mark Viduka in his most advanced role and dropping back into midfield when Newcastle were defending.
Keegan said he had no qualms about keeping Owen in that position for the future.
"It is his position at Newcastle for the time being," he said.
"I said: 'This is the position you have to play in this football club because that is where you are most use for us,' and he said: 'That's fine'.
"He never came up to me and said: 'I'm a forward'. I think he's enjoyed it."
