Allardyce's side are on a run of four games without victory |
Newcastle owner Mike Ashley remains confident manager Sam Allardyce can turn the team's fortunes around, according to chairman Chris Mort. The 53-year-old came in for severe criticism from fans during Saturday's 3-0 home defeat by Liverpool.
Newcastle are without a win in four games and the pressure on Allardyce could increase with Blackburn and leaders Arsenal the next two opponents.
When asked if Allardyce has the owner's support, Mort said: "Yes, absolutely."
Ashley, who completed a 134.4m takeover of the club in June, allowed Allardyce to invest heavily in the summer but there appears to have been little improvement on the pitch.

The former Bolton manager was targeted with chants of "You don't know what you're doing", "Big Sam for England" and "We've only had one shot" as the Magpies were beaten by Rafael Benitez's men.
"Sam is a very experienced manager, and I am sure he will work hard with his coaching team to turn the team around," said Mort.
"He is working hard to get his best team, and how they can work together in the best way.
"Hopefully, we will see that come together over the weeks to come."
Allardyce ordered his players in for an unscheduled training session on Sunday as they prepare for Saturday's trip to Ewood Park, before facing Arsenal at St James' Park.
