Duff's form has been inconsistent for Newcastle this season |
Newcastle winger Damien Duff has been ruled out for the rest of the season after injuring his ankle during Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Portsmouth. The Republic of Ireland international, 28, limped out of the action and had a scan on Sunday to assess the damage.
"There is no break, but his ankle is badly swollen and he won't play again this season," said boss Glenn Roeder.
"It's bad luck for Damien coming at a time when he was beginning to show the sort of form we have been looking for."
Duff signed from Chelsea for 5m last summer and has made 33 appearances for the Magpies.
