Newcastle have denied receiving a formal takeover bid amid talk that Jersey-based investors the Belgravia Group are hoping to buy the club. Reports on Tuesday said the group was in talks with all shareholders and they were hopeful of a positive outcome.
But a statement from the Magpies said: "The company has not received a formal offer proposal from any entity."
Chairman Freddie Shepherd, who holds 29% of the shares, is believed to be against any takeover.
