Rossi has a contract at Old Trafford until 2010 |
Newcastle loan signing Giuseppe Rossi has outlined the possibility of staying at St James' Park beyond January. The 19-year-old agreed a half-season loan deal from Manchester United last week but has hinted at a longer deal.
Rossi, currently on international duty with the Italy Under-21 side, said: "I know I will definitely be a Newcastle player until January.
"But we will look at it again before then and discuss whether I will stay for the whole season."
American-born Rossi, who has a contract with Manchester United extending to 2010, completed a temporary move to Tyneside on transfer deadline day.
He will not be allowed to play against Manchester United and would then be expected to return to Old Trafford for the second half of the season.
"It was decided it would help me and Newcastle if I was to go there on loan and this was the best solution for me," added Rossi, who scored four goals in 12 first-team games for the Red Devils last season.
"I will have more opportunities to play with Newcastle."
