Motherwelll boss Craig Brown satisfied with narrow win
Motherwell will take a 1-0 lead to Iceland next week
Motherwell manager Craig Brown was relieved to open a first leg lead over Breidablik in Europa League qualifying.
"Obviously I'm happy to win but I'm not ecstatic, I'd have liked a bigger cushion," Brown told BBC Radio Scotland after the 1-0 victory at Fir Park.
"Our main objective was not to concede but I'd have liked to have scored more - we created lots of chances.
"That's the first game under our belt, the sharpness will be coming and I'm confident we can score over there."
Brown's side created several good opportunities in the first 45 minutes but could not make their dominance pay before the interval.
Having survived two scares early in the second half, due to some sloppy defending, 'Well made the breakthrough on 63 minutes when an in-swinging cross from Ross Forbes flew into the net.
"It will be a difficult game up there," added Brown, looking ahead to the return leg next week.
"They missed two very good chances after the break. There's no doubt they should have put one of them away.
"I expect the home crowd to encourage them to attack and that could leave them vulnerable at the back, but they passed it well, keep the ball nicely, as we knew they would
"It a major assignment ahead but not impossible and we'll be prepared, no doubt about that."
