Spanish striker Carlos Gazapo to have Motherwell trial
Brown is hoping that Jutkiewitcz will return to Fir Park
Former Real Madrid youth Carlos Gazapo is to have a trial with Motherwell.
The striker spent last season with Rayo Vallecano B, who are in the third tier in Spain, but he previously played with Vallecas in the Second Division.
Motherwell manager Craig Brown is looking to replace four or more players who are leaving Fir Park this summer.
"The season before he finished the league's top scorer with Vallecas, so we'll have a look at him to see how he shows up in training," he said.
After leaving Madrid, the 25-year-old Gazapo spent single-year spells with Cobena, Mostoles, Getafe B, Miapuesta Castelldefels then Vallecas and Rayo Vallecano B.
We're trying to improve the squad, that's for sure
Motherwell manager Craig Brown
Motherwell this month signed Cyprus Under-21 defender Angelis Charalambous from Anorthosis Famagusta and former Airdrie goalkeeper Lee Hollis.
And Brown is still hopeful of persuading Everton manager David Moyes to allow goalkeeper John Ruddy and striker Lukas Jutkiewicz to return after their loan spells at Fir Park last season.
But winger Jim O'Brien has moved to Barnsley at the end of his contract, while New Zealand midfielder Michael McGlinchey had been at Fir Park on loan from Central Coast Mariners to maintain fitness ahead of the World Cup finals.
Giles Coke is stalling over a new contract, with the midfielder being linked with several clubs back in his English homeland.
Brown is likely to have several trialists other than Gazapo join Motherwell when the players begin pre-season training next week.
"We're trying to improve the squad, that's for sure," the manager told his club website.
"We have lost four players - well, two for sure in Jim O'Brien and Michael McGlinchey but most probably four if you add John Ruddy and Lukas Jutkiewicz.
"With each day that passes, the odds on them coming back are lengthening. We're not totally writing them off as yet though; David Moyes has told me that both will start pre-season with them before they make a decision.
"If he doesn't try and sell them then we'll reiterate our interest in both players. But we've got other irons in the fire."
