Smith enjoyed his taste of European football this season
Goalkeeper Graeme Smith has warned both current employers Motherwell and potential suitors Hibernian he wants to play at a higher level.
"I'd love to be at a place where I could challenge the Old Firm and really get right in about them," said Smith.
"I don't believe Celtic and Rangers have a God-given right to the top two spots. I haven't ruled anything out.
"I'm also prepared to move to England or abroad - ultimately, it all depends on who wants you."
Smith's contract at Fir Park expires in the summer and he has been heavily linked with a move to Easter Road.
"If Hibs want to make contact with me then fair enough," said the 25-year-old.
I want to be recognised as a higher-quality player than people think I am at the moment
Motherwell goalkeeper Graeme Smith
"Motherwell made me an offer a year ago. That's still an option for me and one I'm still thinking over."
He makes it clear, though, that he the overall potential of the club will be most important to him.
"I want to achieve as much as I can in football," Smith added.
"Playing in Europe this season, even though it was only two games, was good because it was a stage I felt comfortable on.
"Once you start doing it at that level then people start looking at you in a different light - you're not just an SPL player - and I want to be recognised as a higher-quality player than people think I am at the moment.
"The only way for that to happen is for me to play in those big occasions. I won't get there by performing against the bottom six in the SPL."
