McGhee upbeat despite Dons defeat

Motherwell manager Mark McGhee was upbeat despite losing to Aberdeen.

"Aberdeen set up to play a counter-attacking game and to maybe steal a goal from a set piece.

"That's exactly how it worked so you can't argue against their strategy.

"We dominated territory but couldn't find that cutting edge, said McGhee.

"But we didn't do too badly and it's not the end of the world."

However, McGhee was still concerned at his strikers' failure to find the net after having so much possession.

"We had one or two chances that we should have scored," said the Fir Park manager.

"Players know that and have admitted as much.

"This the first time anyone's come here and camped in the way that Aberdeen did.

"There wasn't a lot of space to get in behind them in advanced areas and find precision in terms of the passing.

"It is early in the season of course, but I'm not concerned that suddenly everything's changed."
