Rangers no longer in for Reynolds

Motherwell defender Mark Reynolds
Reynolds has been a Fir Park regular for two seasons

Rangers have dropped their interest in Motherwell's Mark Reynolds after the Fir Park club rejected an offer of 750,000 for the defender.

The Ibrox side will turn to other targets since Motherwell chairman John Boyle insists Reynolds is not for sale.

Boyle told BBC Sport: "We want to keep our best players as we prepare for the Uefa Cup next season.

"We aim to build on our third place finish and give our manager Mark McGhee the best tools to work with."

McGhee rejected a recent approach from Hearts in order to lead Motherwell in Europe.

And it is believed the former Wolves and Brighton boss received assurances from the Fir Park board that the club's many young talents would not be sold on.

Reynolds was a member of the Scotland team which featured at the Under-20 World Cup last summer.

The centre-half broke into the Motherwell team under previous manager Maurice Malpas and was a fixture in the first team this term.
