Fir Park on track for recovery

Fir Park has seen several postponements this season
The Fir Park pitch has had serious drainage problems this season

Motherwell's fixture against Hibernian on 29 March will go ahead as planned at Fir Park, the SPL has confirmed.

Club chairman John Boyle was worried the stadium could be closed for as long as a month, following eight postponed games inside two months.

But work has started on the playing surface and Fir Park will be back in business next weekend.

"The information we have received about the ongoing maintenance work has been positive," said a SPL statement.

"We are glad that Motherwell FC have now confirmed that the measures taken have ensured that the match against Hibernian FC will be played as planned at Fir Park."

The statement added that further details in relation to the fixtures postponed previously at Fir Park will be announced in due course.

Gretna, who have been groundsharing Fir Park this season, are shifting their next two home ties to Livingston's Almondvale Stadium.
