Leitch (left) believes he will work well with Mark McGhee |
Motherwell assistant Scott Leitch is confident he will enjoy a successful partnership with new boss Mark McGhee. Leitch was given the post before McGhee's appointment and he will provide local knowledge for McGhee, who has spent almost 20 years in England.
"He's very like me, he's very positive and puts demands on himself," said former Motherwell skipper Leitch.
"His teams are high-tempo and aggressive and I'm sure it will be a very good working relationship."
McGhee insisted he has no worries about inheriting a ready made backroom staff.
But the former Aberdeen and Celtic striker warned he will not hesitate to axe former Ross County manager Leitch if he feels their relationship is not working out.
"It will be a good help for me if he is good at his job," said McGhee.
"I certainly know he's a worker. Attitude-wise he will do everything to help me.
"Having someone with the immediate knowledge of Scottish football is going to be very important to me.
"Chris McCart also knows the club intimately and knows Scottish football very well. He's going to be a big asset to me."
McGhee added: "When I went to Millwall and Brighton, I inherited the staff.
"It's something I do because I feel it's morally wrong for people to go in and just clear people out and put them on the street.
"But, if I come in and find they're not good enough or I can't work with them, I'll change it. I'll have no hesitation in doing that.
"It's up to them to prove to me that they are good enough and, if they are, they will be working with me for some time."
