Butcher says he is happy at Motherwell |
Motherwell manager Terry Butcher is considering an offer from Australian A-League champions Sydney FC to take over as their head coach. Sydney have asked Motherwell for permission to speak to Butcher officially, following the departure of former coach Pierre Littbarski.
Sydney chief executive Tim Parker says Butcher is the "leading candidate".
"I am happy at Fir Park, but I would be interested in what they have to say," Butcher told BBC Scotland.
Littbarski turned down a reduced offer to stay at the club for a second year, having led them to the inaugural A-League title.
Parker told Australian Associated Press that Sydney had approached "three or four" overseas candidates.
"He's (Butcher) probably the leading candidate and the negotiations are probably the most advanced with him, but there are others," he added.
