Motherwell striker Scott McDonald admitted his late goals that earned his side victory against Celtic made for a bittersweet experience. McDonald's goals helped to hand the SPL title to Celtic's arch-rivals Rangers, and the 21-year-old Bhoys fan said he would have some explaining to do.
"I've got a lot of Celtic ties so it's a bit awkward," said McDonald, whose father is also a Celtic fan.
"It must be terrible for them but it was all about us in the end."
McDonald said the whole team had approached the game in a professional way to end the season on a high.
"They can't question our commitment," he said.
"We stuck to our task today and got the result. Celtic played well for the whole match. They dominated the game, especially early in the second half."
Motherwell boss Terry Butcher admitted he felt sympathy for Celtic and their manager Martin O'Neill.
"I have not been in a position when I have lost it on the last day but Martin has been there twice," he said.
"So I can't imagine what he will be feeling. I really do feel for them because they are nice guys but Celtic have had a great season. Rangers have had a great season and we have had a great season.
"It's been a great season for the SPL but it is a major disappointment for them."
