The Fir Park club was placed in administration and put up for sale by outgoing chairman John Boyle last week and several players were made redundant as a result of the severe cost-cutting exercises. Jackson, who met with the SPL, the SFA and SPFA on Thursday morning is calling for the fans to turn up in numbers at the games against Chievo and Dundee to help ease some of the problems at the club and prevent possible extinction - a fate which has befallen neighbours Airdrie. "There have been several expressions of interest in the club but these are at an early stage and Motherwell is likely to remain in administration for the foreseeable future," said Jackson.
"I will be talking to those who have expressed an interest in Motherwell but no one should expect this to be resolved overnight. "The cost-cutting that has taken place at the club is essential to keep it alive over the coming months. Without these measures Motherwell could not continue. "There are only two matches to be played at Fir Park before the end of the season and it is essential that these are well attended. "Quite simply, the club needs revenue from these matches and it is vital that at the end of a very difficult week at the club everyone with Motherwell at heart remains committed to ensuring it has a future." |
