Morton winger Jim McAlister would prefer to move to a club in the UK despite interest from Romanian champions Unirea Urziceni.
The 23-year-old was given a trial by the Romanians and has since trained with Championship outfit Watford.
"If I were to leave Morton, I would rather it was for a club in Britain," McAllister told the Scottish Football League website.
"When I heard Watford were interested, I jumped at the chance to train there."
McAllister had impressed Unirea manager Dan Petrescu in a friendly against First Division Morton, attracting interest from Malky MacKay's Watford.
"Nothing was decided, but they have said they are monitoring my situation," said the winger.
"Their training facilities were superb and I also played against a non-league side.
"I am not sure what is happening with Unirea as the chairman is dealing with that.
"No matter what happens, I will keep my head down and continue to do my best for Morton as I have done in my six years here."
