Paul McGowan was on loan with Morton last season |
Morton have had an increased bid for 19-year-old forward Paul McGowan rejected by Celtic. The First Division outfit had offered 80,000, plus 25% of any ongoing transfer, for the player who impressed while on loan in Greenock last season.
Morton's website reported that Celtic said this was "still well short" of their own valuation of the player.
Ton manager Jim McInally had previously thought his chairman would not increase their initial offer of 65,000.
"I thought 50,000 would have been a fair offer, but the chairman went in with 65,000 only to be told it was not enough," added the Morton boss.
