Morecambe boss Sammy McIlroy believes Scott Davies' performance against Brentford on Saturday vindicated his decision to apply squad rotation.
McIlroy decided to start with Davies in place of Shwan Jalal in goal after a mixed run of results.
"It was a difficult decision to drop Jalal," he told BBC Radio Lancashire.
"I don't want to make anybody a scapegoat but I just felt we had to do something defensively because we've been conceding goals."
Saturday's 3-1 victory over Brentford gives Morecambe an outside chance of reaching the League Two play-offs.
But McIlroy says it won't stop him making awkward decisions in the future.
"It's a squad game and we have to use the squad in these remaining nine games.
"We've got an unbelievable three games coming up against Wycombe, Darlington and Rotherham and we have to finish with as many points as possible."
