Morecambe boss Sammy McIlroy has revealed contract talks with midfielder Garry Thompson may not be completed until the summer. The 27-year-old has been offered a new three-year deal and McIlroy told BBC Radio Lancashire: "Thommo knows how I feel about the situation.
"I've had a few talks with the boy and I'm hoping he does want to sign.
"I get on very well with the boy, he's played some great football for me and I like working with the lad."
Thompson, who has scored six goals this season, is in the squad for this Saturday's trip to Dagenham & Redbridge.
He has made more than 300 appearances for the club after coming through the Christie Park ranks.
