Harvey's long association with Morecambe is over |
Morecambe have parted company with boss Jim Harvey and he has been released from his deal with immediate effect. The former Tranmere and Hereford midfielder, 48, took charge of the Shrimps in July 1994 and established the club as a Conference force.
Harvey was forced to stand down last November when he suffered a heart attack but after returning to health was expected to resume his duties.
Sammy McIlroy was appointed caretaker manager in Harvey's absence.
McIlroy led Morecambe to the play-offs, where they were beaten in the semi-finals by Hereford.
Chairman Peter McGuigan told Morecambe's website: "The board would like to thank Jim for his significant contribution to the development of Morecambe Football Club during the last 12 years and wish him every success for the future."
