Morecambe boss Sammy McIlroy is hoping to secure the signing of full-back Adam Yates from Leek Town. Yates, who started his career at Crewe and played in the Conference on loan with Halifax Town, has impressed during a trial spell with the Shrimps.
McIlroy is looking to conclude a deal for the 23-year-old before Saturday's Conference opener against Burton.
Meanwhile, Morecambe have rejected a transfer request from defender or midfield player Dave Perkins.
