John Gorman insists he has a great deal to offer MK Dons boss Karl Robinson in his new role as assistant manager.
Robinson was appointed the new Dons manager having previously worked as Paul Ince's number two at Stadium MK.
Gorman told BBC Three Counties Radio: "The set-up here is very good. Karl came to me because he felt I could be of benefit to him.
"I've been out of football and I've been missed. People want me helping these young players."
He added: "I've still got a lot to offer football."
The 60-year-old has had spells as manager of Wycombe, Swindon and Northampton, as well as serving as assistant with England under Glenn Hoddle.
Gorman said: "We've got a cracking squad here at MK Dons. Some of them feel they have underachieved, which is good to hear. It shows there is more to come.
"With the squad we've got we could reach the play-offs. We should finish in a play-off position and, who knows, maybe automatic promotion.
"The chairman showed me that he really wanted me to join the club and it's a nice feeling to be wanted."
Gorman's previous job was as assistant manager to Jim Magilton at QPR, but both men left the club in December.
Gorman explained: "I unjustly lost my job at QPR because I supported Jim Magilton who I thought was completely innocent. I could have stayed there as caretaker manager but I left the club instead."
