American-born Zak Whitbread has played 117 appearances for Millwall
Swansea City have postponed their bid to sign Millwall defender Zak Whitbread until the new year because of injury.
The Championship club agreed a deal to sign the former Liverpool trainee, 25, but he has just undergone hip surgery so the signing has been delayed.
Swans chairman Huw Jenkins said: "We agreed a deal for Zak with Millwall.
"But because he has just had a hip operation, he felt it was better if he remained until he was fully fit. The situation will be reviewed in January."
The American-born centre-back has played 117 times for Millwall since signing from Premier League side Liverpool in 2006, but was transfer-listed in July after he refused to discuss a new contract.
