Byfield is on his way out of Priestfield |
Gillingham striker Darren Byfield has left the club after agreeing terms with League One rivals Millwall. He joined the Priestfield club from Sunderland in the summer of 2004 on a two-year contract.
Byfield's departure is a major blow to manager Ronnie Jepson who was keen to keep the 29-year-old.
The striker finished the season as top-scorer with 14 goals despite missing several weeks of the season because of suspensions and injury.
