The Neil Harris everyman Appeal, set up in conjunction with the club and the Institute of Cancer Research, will raise money for medical studies into the alarming increase in the problem over the last few years.

Harris was diagnosed in June but after intensive treatment, including surgery and radiotherapy, he has returned to action.

The prolific striker played 25 minutes for Millwall's reserves against Portsmouth on Tuesday.

"I'm due for my latest check-up next week but I'm back enjoying my football again," Harris told BBC Radio Five Live.

"The treatment hit me hard and as time went by I lost a lot of fitness and I have worked hard to get it back and am almost back to full fitness.

"I got involved because I wanted to raise awareness of testicular cancer in young men to stop people going through what my family went through.

"The appeal will help research to find out why young men are so prone to getting this disease.

"It has gone up 70% in 20 years and is growing fast and they seem to be no nearer finding out why.

"It has hit us hard and we want to do something to raise awareness."
