Emnes has signed a four-year deal with Middlesbrough
Middlesbrough manager Gareth Southgate believes Dutch winger Marvin Emnes will have a big impact in the Premier League once he has settled in on Teesside.
Emnes was a 3.2m signing from Sparta Rotterdam in July and Southgate has seen enough of the 20-year-old to suggest he can be a success in England.
"We've been impressed with what he's done in pre-season," he told BBC Tees.
"He has shown flashes of what we think is a very exciting talent. His quality is good and so is his attitude too."
Emnes, a former sprinter, began his career with hometown club Sparta and made 55 appearances, scoring nine goals.
Meanwhile the Dutch Under-21 international scored his first goal for Middlesbrough in the 5-0 win against Darlington at the Arena on Tuesday.
In addition winger Adam Johnson grabbed a brace, defender Tony McMahon got a rare goal and Darlington defender Lewis Hardman put through his own net to seal a convincing win for Southgate's side.
