 Xavier has Premiership experience |
Middlesbrough are racing to complete the signing of Portugal international defender Abel Xavier before the closure of the transfer window. Xavier is likely to replace Dutch defender Michael Reiziger who is due to complete a move to PSV Eindhoven.
The 32-year-old Xavier is a free agent, having left Italian Serie A outfit Roma during the summer after failing to agree terms on a new deal.
Xavier has experience of the Premiership with Everton and Liverpool.
