Middlesbrough midfielder James Morrison has signed a new three-and-a-half-year contract with the club. The 18-year-old has scored twice in eight appearances for the senior team this year after helping the club to win the FA Youth Cup last season.
"I couldn't be happier at Boro so it was an easy decision to make," he said.
"I'm getting my chance in the first team. It's a dream come true. Steve McClaren has shown a lot of trust in me and that really boosted my confidence."
He added: "This season I was hoping to play as many reserve games as I could and maybe play for the first team in the cup competitions.
"It's been a big help having Tony McMahon break into the first team at the same time. We are friends, but we also both play on the right and know each other's game."
Meanwhile, Boro are in talks with 18-year-old defender McMahon about signing a contract extension.
