Mansfield Town to return to Field Mill

Mansfield Town are returning to Field Mill after resolving a rent dispute with landlord Keith Haslam.

The ground was repossessed by Haslam on 3 December forcing the Stags to look into a temporary move.

But the cold weather and a kind fixture list meant the club did not have to play a home game in that period.

And after talks on Thursday, the Stags will return to Field Mill on Monday, 20 December and will be able to fulfil their Boxing Day game against Grimsby.

Mansfield Town had been looking at the possibility of playing at Ilkeston or Alfreton Town.

Over these next few months hopefully we'll get a lot closer to getting Field Mill owned by the fans

But both the Derbyshire clubs' home grounds are not considered able to host Blue Square Bet Premier football as they do not meet the required A grade standard.

Stags chairman John Radford said: "It was just a case of negotiating the correct pricing structure. There was some quite hard bargaining but I'm really pleased with the result. It's at least 40% better.

"Over these next few months hopefully we'll get a lot closer to getting Field Mill owned by the fans."
