Mansfield Town chairman Andy Perry has said he hopes the takeover of the club will be completed by their next home game, against Oxford on 4 December.
Perry, along with Andy Saunders and Steve Middleton have businesses in the town and are long-standing supporters.
The trio took control of the club in the summer but the paperwork is yet to be finalised.
Perry told BBC Radio Nottingham: "It's very, very close and we're hoping for good news by the next home game."

Meanwhile, Perry has backed manager Billy McEwan despite the Stags are 19th in the Blue Square Premier, just four points above the relegation zone.
"This is our long-term plan, it's a building season for us and we're all going to be supporting the manger and existing players."
