Goalkeeper Carl Muggleton has told BBC Radio Nottingham that he is still hoping to sign for Mansfield Town.
Muggleton was not offered a contract by the club at the end of last season despite playing 42 times and working as Paul Holland's assistant manager.
The 39-year-old says he has not given up on joining the Stags: "I thought I did enough to earn a new contract.
"I would relish the challenge but I can't just sit around waiting for the phone to ring."
Muggleton was one of eight players released by the club at the end of the season.

Holland has said he will offer him a contract if he gets the manager's job at Field Mill.
Mansfield were relegated from League Two in the final week of the season.
