Holland disputes Buxton red card

Mansfield Town manager Paul Holland felt skipper Jake Buxton should not have been sent off in the 2-1 defeat at promotion-chasing Stockport.

Buxton saw red for a professional foul with the score at 1-1 and County hit the winner from the resulting penalty.

"I don't think Bucko was the last man," Holland told BBC Radio Nottingham. "I don't think it's a sending off at all.

"It was a scramble he made a last-ditch tackle and said he touched the ball. If it's a penalty it's ample punishment."

Buxton has been handed a two match ban and will now miss Mansfield's crucial games away at Macclesfield and at home to Shrewsbury.

The defeat at Edgeley Park means the Stags are still in the second League Two relegation spot, three points off safety, with just four games remaining.
