Mansfield Town caretaker boss Paul Holland says he would relish the chance to take over as permanent manager. Billy Dearden left the club by mutual consent following Saturday's 4-0 home drubbing against Rochdale and Holland, 34, has been put in temporary charge.
"I'd love to be here. It's my club and I've been involved since I was 12 years old," he told BBC Radio Nottingham.
"It's down to me to show what I can do so I'm going to try to put my mark on it straight away."
He added: "I spoke to Stephen Booth (chief executive) about it and he explained that he will be speaking to other people but he hasn't excluded me from the running."
Holland progressed through the youth ranks at Field Mill and played more than 150 games for the club.
You can hear the full interview with Paul Holland on BBC Radio Nottingham's Matchnight programme on Tuesday night from 1900 GMT.
