The former Liverpool and Real Madrid striker's injury record has been brought into question by his critics and he will be aiming to prove his doubters wrong as he tries to win back a place in the England squad.
There will be plenty of focus on his stint at Old Trafford and Ronaldo played down the significance of the 29-year-old inheriting a shirt that has also been worn by George Best, Bryan Robson, David Beckham and Eric Cantona.
"You don't have a lot of pressure just because you have the number seven. It was a good decision by United," added the Portuguese.
But regardless of how successful Owen is at United, Ronaldo believes his new club can win the Champions League.
The former United star has been joined at the Bernabeu by Kaka from AC Milan and Karim Benzema from Lyon as Real put together a new generation of 'galacticos'.
"Real Madrid can win many titles," he added. "I believe we are going to win the Spanish league and the Champions League as well. We have a great coach, great players, so we have the possibility of winning."
