Berbatov explained his reasons for moving to Old Trafford
Dimitar Berbatov has insisted he never considered a move to Manchester City.
The Bulgarian striker, 27, completed a pre-deadline move to Manchester United from Tottenham despite City's late bid.
"I would not even have thought about Manchester City. My only goal was to come to United," said Berbatov, who is likely to make his debut at Liverpool.
"I heard about the offer City made and the money they want to spend. It did not make any difference to me. I just wanted to come here."
City are determined to win silverware following a planned takeover by the Abu Dhabi United Group.
The Eastlands club's increased wealth enabled them to pip Chelsea to the signing of Brazil star Robinho from Real Madrid.
But Berbatov is adamant he would never have been tempted to join City despite their audacious late attempt to capture him.
Berbatov said: "My ambitions and goals are big and I want to fulfil them at the biggest club in the world. That was my only goal - and I achieved it."
