A youthful Manchester United side lost out to Preston North End in an entertaining friendly at Deepdale. Former United trainee Danny Pugh put Preston ahead with a rasping shot after he was set up by David Nugent.
And Pugh turned provider for North End's second, squaring the ball to Simon Whaley to tap into an empty net.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer fired home United's consolation from the spot in injury time after Darren Fletcher was felled in the area by Alan McCormack.
