 France's Silvestre will stay at Man Utd until 2009 |
Manchester United pair Mikael Silvestre and Park Ji-Sung have signed contract extensions to stay at Old Trafford until 2009 and 2010 respectively. French World Cup star Silvestre has opted to fight for his place in the team despite the arrival of Nemanja Vidic and Patrice Evra.
Silvestre, 29, joined Man Utd for �4m from Inter Milan in 1999.
"Mikael has been an important member of the squad for seven years now," said Man Utd manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
"His experience at the club will help the younger players as they develop and he has a central role to play in the first team."
The 25-year-old Park has impressed in his first season since joining from PSV Eindhoven for �4m.
"I am pleased to have secured him to the end of the decade at least," said Ferguson.
"He has adapted well to the Premiership and is probably the best off-the-ball player we have.
"His movement and awareness is fantastic and he has been blessed with good stamina, a great attitude and good character."
