Manchester United striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could be fit for the start of the new season. Solskjaer, 32, was not expected to be fit until October after having an operation on his knee, which kept him out of the whole of last season.
Boss Alex Ferguson said: "Ole just felt his knee again recently. But it was a different part and now the swelling has gone down.
"He is back in training and he could be fit for the start of the season."
Solskjaer's return to fitness could be bad news for Michael Owen, who has been linked with a move to Old Trafford from Real Madrid.
With the Norwegian striker once again available, Ferguson already has five strikers at his disposal.
