Park set to put pressure on Giggs
Park Ji-Sung
Ferguson sees Park as a replacement for Giggs down the left
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has warned Ryan Giggs he will face stiff competition for his place from new signing Park Ji-Sung.

Ferguson signed Park, 24, for 4m this summer and views him as a future replacement for 31-year-old Giggs.

"You have to look at Ryan's age. Park impressed me the most when he was playing on the left and then coming infield," said Ferguson.

"We will start him from there to begin with and then see how it develops."

He has been going up and down that left wing for 15 years

Giggs signed a two-year extension to his contract in May which will keep him at Old Trafford until 2008.

The Welsh international was back to his best last season before his run of form was interrupted by a hamstring injury.

And Ferguson knows that more niggles and injuries are likely to follow for the club's most decorated player.

"He has been going up and down that left wing for 15 years," said Ferguson.

"There is no player in the Premier League who has lasted that long, or achieved what he has in that time."

Park and Giggs could be vying for position in Saturday's pre-season friendly at Clyde before they head out for the tour of the Far East.
