Manchester United's David Bellion is to join Nice on loan for the rest of the season with a view to a permanent move. "The club was interested in him as well as other players but in the end we have chosen him," said a Nice spokesman.
The 23-year-old moved to Old Trafford from Sunderland in July 2003 and was loaned to West Ham in August.
He scored on his Hammers debut in the Carling Cup win over Sheffield Wednesday but it was his only goal in seven starts for the club.
The winger began his career at Cannes, where Zinedine Zidane and Patrick Vieira also started, before moving to Sunderland in 2001.
Following their relegation from the Premiership, he moved to Old Trafford in 2003.
In two seasons at United, he scored four Premiership goals in 24 matches as well as two Champions League goals in seven appearances, but failed to hold down a regular first-team place.
Sir Alex Ferguson allowed him to join West Ham, but the Frenchman failed to settle at Upton Park and he will now move back to his homeland.
