Rio Ferdinand is set to sign a new contract with Manchester United. The England defender has two years left on his current deal but is believed to be ready to sign a new five-year deal before the end of the season.
"I want a new contract. I'm happy at United and I see my future here. I hope talks will be positive," the 26-year-old told The Sun.
The defender's agent Pini Zahavi added: "Things are progressing well and I hope we will soon reach a conclusion."
Ferdinand is now in his third season at United since his 29.1m move from Leeds.
The England international missed the first two months of the campaign because of an eight-month ban for missing a drugs test.
