Djemba-Djemba has signed a five-year deal

The 23-year-old has signed a five-year contract and his arrival follows that of David Bellion, who joined earlier in the week from Sunderland.

The fee could rise by a further �700,000 dependent on appearances.

"This is a very proud moment for me," Djemba-Djemba told United's official website.

"Ever since I was a teenager it has been my dream to play for Manchester United.

"If the club is signing me it is because they really believe in me. I am here to learn and to work hard, and I cannot wait for the new season to start."

Bellion joins Man Utd

United manager Sir Alex Ferguson said he had tracked the player throughout last season and is confident he has signed a player capable of making an impact at Old Trafford.

"Eric is a young player we've watched throughout the season, and he's impressed us each time with his understanding of the game," said Ferguson.

"He's quick, aggressive and a good passer of the ball, and is the kind of athletic footballer we are looking for.

"In the last few months he has shown his development playing in a very good Cameroon team, and he looks like a Manchester United player in every sense."

Although Djemba-Djemba has signed for United he has not yet been officially unveiled by the club.

After passing a medical on Thursday morning, the midfielder left Old Trafford to attend for a memorial service in honour of international team-mate Marc-Vivien Foe.

Djemba-Djemba made his debut for Cameroon in January 2002 and won an African Nations' Cup medal shortly afterwards.

He came through the ranks at French club Nantes, signing professional forms in 2000.

The midfielder was in exceptional form when United came up against Nantes in a Champions League match in February 2002.
