Campo snubs Man Utd
Ivan Campo in action
Campo (r) is currently out of favour at Real Madrid
Real Madrid's Ivan Campo says he plans to stay at the Bernebeu for "some time to come" despite reports that he is a target for Manchester United.

According to his agent, the defender is wanted by the Premiership champions following the sudden exit of Jaap Stam.

But Campo says talk of a move to England has come out of the blue.

I can confirm we are interested in signing Blanc
Man Utd chief executive Peter Kenyon

"The truth is that all this has taken me by surprise," said the Spaniard.

"Suddenly two big teams appear to be interested and it is always nice if they have you in mind, especially if they are teams of the calibre of Inter and Manchester United.

"But I haven't talked to anyone about my future and I know nothing about the whole business.

"I only found out about it all through my team-mates and my plan is to stay at Real for some time to come."

Earlier, Campo's agent claimed his man was on United's hit-list following Stam's 16.5 m move to Lazio.

"I know Manchester United are poised to sign Ivan Campo," said Miguel Angel Cermeno.

Kevin Hofland in action
Hofland has already turned down a move
"I know Ivan has a very good impression of England, and United were impressed by his performances in the Champions League."

Laurent Blanc is still on the Old Trafford hit-list, with Manchester United chief executive Peter Kenyon saying: "I can confirm we are interested in signing Blanc.

"Hopefully he will be with us on Tuesday or Wednesday."

PSV Eindhoven's Kevin Hofland, who turned down a move to Old Trafford 18 months ago, Valencia's Roberto Ayala and Bayern Munich's Bixente Lizarazu are also in the frame.
