King Eric's United comeback
Eric Cantona receives an award from Sir Alex Ferguson
Reunion: Cantona was back at Old Trafford last month
Eric Cantona is set to return to Manchester United next season by taking a job on the coaching staff, according to reports.

According to the Mail on Sunday, the Frenchman will take a part-time role with United's youngsters in manager Alex Ferguson's last season in charge of the club.

Cantona, who made a huge impact as a player after joining United in 1992, left Old Trafford four years ago when he retired from the game.

Earlier this year, fans voted him the best player in the club's history, ahead of Bobby Charlton, George Best and Dennis Law.

Ferguson is determined to make his last year in the United hot-seat a successful one and is stepping up efforts to sign new players.

Bixente Lizarazu
Lizarazu is "keen to join United" says Ferguson
He told the News of the World he is on the verge of recruiting French international left-back Bixente Lizarazu, who helped Bayern Munich lift the European Cup this week.

The newspaper quoted Ferguson as saying: "The player is very keen to join us as soon as possible."

The United boss is also reportedly lining up a 24m bid for another Frenchman, Arsenal midfielder Patrick Vieira.

He said: "I'm chasing six players in the hope of landing three. That's the case with all the big clubs."

Ferguson revealed he had also sounded out Juventus about the availability of a third French international, Zinedine Zidane.

"I went in again for Zidane recently but Juventus boss Roberto Bettega told me to stop wasting my time."
