Joleon Lescott fit for World Cup, says Man City boss
Lescott has endured an interrupted first season at Manchester City
Joleon Lescott has been ruled out of Manchester City's last two Premier League games, but boss Roberto Mancini feels he may be fit for the World Cup.
Mancini says Lescott is struggling with hamstring trouble and will miss Wednesday's showdown against Tottenham.
But Mancini believes he will be ready if required for Fabio Capello's England squad in South Africa in June.
"I hope Joleon will be fit for the World Cup," said Mancini. "He has 14 days after the League season finishes."
City's final league match of the season is away at West Ham on Sunday.
Lescott has managed 24 City appearances since being signed on 25 August.
In December the former Everton player had a knee operation and the 27-year-old had barely returned to regular duty when he injured his hamstring in March.
Although Capello does not name his squad until 1 June, Lescott's lack of match practice since the start of the calendar year is not in his favour.
But Mancini is hopeful his fellow Italian will give the player a chance.
