Robinho says he is no rush to leave Eastlands

Brazil superstar Robinho has insisted that he intends to remain at Manchester City "for a long time to come".

The 25-year-old forward scored his first goal for City since 28 December in Sunday's 4-2 win against West Brom.

He told the club's website: "There are no regrets on my part about coming here. This is only my first year, and I try to get better every year.

"Hopefully in the future I will be even happier at this football club. My aim is to remain here for a long time."

Robinho has been criticised in some quarters for not consistently producing his best performances - particularly away from Eastlands.

Only two of his goals have come on the road - at Newcastle and Blackburn - although he has scored 11 goals at home.

But Robinho feels ending his barren spell by notching against the Baggies, coupled with the support of boss Mark Hughes, has given him the impetus to end the season strongly.

"That goal gives me a lot more confidence to score more in the matches that we have left," added the £32.5m signing from Real Madrid.

"The manager gives me total confidence and the team help me to produce my best football.

"My relationship with the manager is very good. Our manager is a very good manager, an excellent manager."

Earlier in the season, Hughes played down reports of a rift between himself and Robinho.

In January, the Brazilian playmaker was fined for leaving the club's training camp on the Spanish island of Tenerife without permission.

But Hughes insisted at the time that the situation was "a lot calmer than people would imagine".
