Pearce recently became the England Under-21 manager |
Manchester City manager Stuart Pearce has denied reports that he has two games to save his job. Pearce's side have lost their last four Premiership games and were dumped out of the FA Cup at Blackburn.
City face Chelsea on Wednesday and Middlesbrough on Saturday - but Pearce said: "My job doesn't boil down to losing the next two games.
"This is a fantastic club to work for and I plan to be here for much longer than that."
And the City boss pledged to come through the difficult times.
"I expected Manchester City to be further up the league table," he added.

"I plan to be successful in my career as a manager. I do not plan to back away from things and hide when things are not going so well.
"I will keep working hard, that is for sure. We will not feel sorry for ourselves."
The Manchester club are currently 17th in the Premiership, six points above the relegation zone and with two games in hand, but Pearce insists he has had no indication from chairman John Wardle that his job is under threat.
City fans booed the team off after their 2-0 Cup defeat at Blackburn on Sunday, singing "you're not fit to wear the shirt" as the final whistle blew, but Pearce urged them to adopt a more positive stance

"The fans are a massive part of this football club," said Pearce.
"They will be here long after the players and board have gone and the manager
has been changed a million times.
"But the one thing they have to do is get behind the players. If the fans
have any frustrations they should take them out on me."
Pearce's job has not been made any easier by City skipper Richard Dunne's criticism of overseas signings for "hiding" and "lack of effort" prior to the Blackburn defeat.
"I didn't make Richard captain of this club on a whim," said Pearce.
"I did it because he has the respect of everyone here. Have his words been
helpful? Probably not. But he speaks from the heart.
"The players have to embrace what he has said and move on. I don't think they
will turn against him for those comments and I have no intention of speaking to
him about them either."
Pearce, who was appointed part-time boss of the England Under-21 side in February, is the 11-10 favourite with the bookmakers to be the next Premiership manager to lose his job.
