Wright Phillips scored 10 goals for City last season |
Boss Stuart Pearce still regrets having to sell Shaun Wright-Phillips last summer because it may have cost Manchester City a European spot. The 24-year-old winger joined Chelsea in a 21m deal at the end of last season and, without him, City are languishing in 14th spot this season.
And Pearce said: "It would have been fantastic to have kept him and added maybe three or four new faces.
"Taking Shaun out made a difference. His goals could have put us in Europe."
Wright-Phillips has failed to hold down a regular spot at Stamford Bridge since the move, making only nine Premiership starts all season.
However, he is expected to travel with England to this summer's World Cup finals in Germany.
